Because my father served in the military in the Northeast for over a decade, I often learned about the cities and people of the region from my father's memories, and it has always been a place of great interest to me, and my project three was inspired by stories from the Northeast.
In my research on the Northeast, I started with the history of the development of Northeast China. I learned that Northeast China during the period of my birth had just experienced a wave of layoffs, mainly due to the state policy that state-owned factories became privately owned, and that 110 million people in Northeast China lost their jobs overnight. During the same period, my father, who had finished his military service in Northeast China, also faced the problem of returning to his hometown to change jobs.
The industries in the Northeast, before declaring bankruptcy, were the main source of supporting the livelihood of the people in the Northeast at that time, they had a huge industrial area, and the related industries were mainly brass smelting, coal mining, oil, etc. One factory could support the livelihood of three generations, the unemployed people, who had fewer skills to survive, were forced to do some odd jobs due to the pressure of survival, and some of them started to degenerate to steal and rob, etc.
I lamented the lives of the 110 million people who were instantly unemployed during that period, and the fate of the factories was closely linked to theirs.
